Quick Revision Update

GollywhopperFinal

Not that many of you care because this is basically devoid of anything personal or truly interesting unless you’re a numbers person. But it’s nice having this here for my own record.

Late Friday night (early Saturday morning), around 1:15 a.m., after two days of transcribing, I finished typing in my first-pass revisions. I’d scribbled them on the hard copy.

By the numbers:

Before: 39 chapters.

After: 37 chapters. (I combined two pairs.)

Before: 62,500 words

After: 55, 387 words

Before: 254 pages

After: 212 pages

Passes gone through during this round: 1

Passes to go: 2 (one computer; the other, hard copy again)

So that means I haven’t yet reached the 50 page-loss goal they set for me – and I’m not sure I can get there without another set of eyes pointing out where the pace still drags – but, hey, I’m happy.

Count me among the caring. Your fate is my fate, too.

Intertwined fates, huh? Always an interesting premise. Nope. Must stick to this book. For the next two months, at least.

Were you supposed to cut? I always find I add in my revisions (because I love action and cut to the chase too much.) I really admire people who overflow with words. :-D (And I'm a numbers person, so this interested me.)

It isn't me who overflows with words, it's my MCs. They think too much and and all over the place and not succinctly. (And are you getting the drift from my previous sentence?) And because we can aim for the reluctant boy market, the fewer words, the better. So yeah, I was supposed to cut ... and more than I already have. Back with the axe.
